Hemlines

So I've come to the point where I am finishing the neck and hemline on the sweater but am confused at the sewing on part. Does anyone have a good resource for an explanation of what is happening with these hemlines? I'm not sure how to tack the live stitches to the sweater invisibly. Thanks!

Leave the stitches live on your needle and thread a darning needle with your long tail. Run the darning needle up through the bump of the stitch formed on the back of your first neckband row or the purlside row where the hem goes in and then knitwise through the first stich on the knitting needle. Pull through and slide the live stitch off. It's tedious but goes faster when you get the hang of it.

You ARE a fairy godknitter. Thanks for the explanation. I'll reread it when I get to that point.
